Titanium vs Stainless & Nickel Alloy: Tube Weight Comparator

Same geometry, four materials. Titanium’s density advantage is the part buyers most often under-count when comparing a quote per kilogram.

Material Density Mass per tube Total mass vs titanium

Engineering Insight

Densities: titanium Grade 2 4.51 g/cm3, 316L 8.0, duplex 2205 7.8, Inconel 625 8.4. Mass is calculated from the annulus cross-section and is a nominal figure, not a purchase weight; add the mill’s dimensional tolerance and any cut allowance. Weight is only one input to a material decision, and the lighter metal is not automatically the cheaper installed one.
