Is Hastelloy C276 always the safest acid-service choice?

Hastelloy C276 is a good nickel alloy candidate for many corrosive service conditions but is not the universal answer. hydrochloric acid resistant metals and chlorine resistant metals will require evaluation versus concentration, temperature, moisture, flow and equipment configuration.

Can Hastelloy still fail or rust in acid service?
